Queensland Government’s FairPlay Program Launches Round 10 to Boost Youth Sports Participation
In a significant move to support young athletes, the Queensland Government has announced the opening of Round 10 of the FairPlay program. This initiative is specifically designed to assist eligible families with the financial aspects of sports memberships, registration, or participation fees for their children.
The latest round offers over $6 million in funding, translating to more than 40,000 vouchers, each aiming to lower the economic barriers that prevent children from participating in sports. Prominent Brisbane Broncos and Brisbane Lions football stars are actively promoting this initiative, highlighting its benefits in aiding families to manage the costs associated with children’s sports.
FairPlay vouchers, each valued up to $150, play a crucial role in reducing sports-related expenses. These vouchers are mitigating the cost-of-living pressures faced by many families. The current round of the program focuses on distributing these vouchers to support children aged between five and 17 in joining sporting fields or engaging in active recreation programs.
Applications for Round 10 are open from 24 January 2024 until 1 May 2024, and the vouchers are redeemable by clubs and organisations until 12 June 2024. Additionally, the expiry date for over 4,000 vouchers from Round 9 has been extended, allowing these to be presented until 1 May 2024, with a redemption deadline set for 12 June 2024.
