Disaster Assistance Announced for Scenic Rim Recovery

The Scenic Rim Regional Council has secured disaster assistance following a week of heavy rain and flooding that caused severe landslips and significant road damage, including Knapp Creek Road south of Kooralbyn.

Through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments, the council will receive support for critical response and recovery efforts. This includes emergency repairs, community recovery, and the reconstruction of essential infrastructure.

Federal Minister for Emergency Management Jenny McAllister commended the efforts of first responders and assured the government’s commitment to aiding the community. “This joint support will help Scenic Rim Regional Council clean up, reinstate critical assets, and ensure community safety,” she said.

Queensland Minister for Disaster Recovery Ann Leahy praised the resilience of Scenic Rim residents, stating, “This assistance will help rebuild roads and protect residents, allowing the community to overcome this latest round of wild weather.”
