Free Traineeships for Next Generation of Ipswich Tradies

A new fund has been launched to help young Ipswich locals kick-start their careers in construction. As part of the Queensland Government’s Homes for Queenslanders plan, 15 trainees will gain full-time paid work, earning a Certificate I in Construction and a White Card while working on housing projects.

Employed by Challenge Employment & Training in partnership with QBuild, the trainees will help maintain community facilities and social housing across Ipswich and nearby areas. Alongside practical skills, they’ll receive support, including case management, mentoring, and activities to boost confidence and teamwork.

This initiative comes as more than $1 billion in social housing projects are underway, contributing to the plan to build one million new homes, including 53,500 social homes.
