Scenic Rim Council Advocates for Regional Growth and Sustainability

The Scenic Rim Regional Council is championing its advocacy efforts to support the region’s ongoing growth and development. Encompassing 4,249 km² of stunning landscapes, the region is home to key industries including agriculture, construction, and tourism. The population has increased by 17% over the past decade and is expected to rise by 25% over the next 20 years, reaching 67,290 by 2041.

The region’s economy has seen rapid growth, with an average annual increase of 3.4% over the last five years, surpassing both South East Queensland and state averages. Notable investments, including $750 million in building projects, reflect this prosperity.

The Scenic Rim’s diverse economy is built on agriculture, tourism, services, and construction, all vital to the region’s ongoing expansion. The Council’s Scenic Rim Regional Prosperity Strategy 2020-25 aims to create sustainable job opportunities and enhance community vibrancy by attracting innovative businesses.

For continued success, the Council is calling for ongoing support from the Queensland Government, with a focus on transport connectivity, access to community amenities, and the financial sustainability of services and infrastructure. Ensuring a seamless integration with the broader South East Queensland region is crucial for the long-term prosperity of the Scenic Rim.
