Somerset Secures Major Funding for Community Projects

Somerset Regional Council has achieved remarkable success, securing funding for two significant projects under the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program. Out of just six projects funded in Queensland, Somerset proudly claimed two, highlighting the Council’s dedication to community growth and development.

The Toogoolawah Gateway Project will deliver a state-of-the-art Gateway Centre and Wellness Hub, featuring a library, physical and wellness centre, seminar rooms, public amenities, and a car park. This initiative is set to create jobs, improve community health outcomes, and enhance access to vital services.

Meanwhile, the Mount Glen Rock Walking Trail will introduce a 6km walking-only trail network, including a summit trail and lookout. Designed to attract visitors, this low-impact project will support local jobs and stimulate the regional economy.

Mayor Graeme Lehmann praised the funding as a transformative step for Somerset, noting the significant benefits for residents and the broader community.

These projects reflect the Council’s commitment to enhancing liveability and boosting the region’s economic potential.
