Kathy Bensted, Chair
Kathy is Chair of Regional Development Australia Ipswich & West Moreton and is the Queensland representative for the Regional Development Australia National Chair’s Reference Group. Kathy is the RDAIWM representative on the Queensland Urban Utility Customer and Community Reference Group.
Kathy has served as an elected Councillor on both the Boonah Shire Council and the Scenic Rim Regional Council, which has driven her passion for community and economic development and supporting and encouraging all members of the community, especially women. This determination has led Kathy to represent her community on over 20 committees and, through these networks, has seen valuable improvement in the quality of services and infrastructure for those who live within the region.
Kathy now operates two small businesses: she is a couturier of individual fashion garments for clients across South East Queensland, and runs an event planning and packaging business in Boonah. She has a keen interest in the progress of Local Government across the state and nationally, and previously held the position of National President of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association. Within this role, Kathy was the endorsed delegate to the National Awards for Local Government Judging Panel, and alternative director to the National Rural Women’s Coalition. Kathy also chaired the 50:50 Vision - Councils for Gender Equity Committee.
