New temporary management plan for Wivenhoe and Somerset dams

Wivenhoe damWivenhoe and Somerset dams will be temporarily lowered through low flow releases over coming weeks as part of Seqwater's Dam Improvement Program. Seqwater will advise the community of the planned changes and any updates through traditional and social media channels as well as through its dam release notification service. $4.2 million for Regional Bridges

The Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Hon Warren Truss, announced successful projects under round two of the Bridges Renewal Programme (BRP). Scenic Rim and Somerset Regional Councils were successful in receiving $4.2million matching funding to replace 9 timber bridges in the region. The objectives of the BRP are to contribute to the productivity of bridges serving local communities, and facilitate higher productivity vehicle access.

$6.5 million to Bromelton State Development Area

Craig Barke John Brent Kathy BenstedThe Scenic Rim Regional Council were recently successful in obtaining $3.2million funding under the Queensland State Government’s, Building Our Regions program. The $6.5million project will supply and install a 6.1 kilometre Trunk Water main connecting the Beaudesert Water Treatment Plant to the Bromelton Structure Plan Area (BSPA).

$71.8 million facilities project

Kathy Bensted RAAF Air CommodoreThe Australian Government has approved a $71.8 million infrastructure project for the RAAF Base Amberley to support the relocation of the Australian Army's 17th Construction Squadron. The project is expected to begin in late 2015 and be completed by late 2016. 

The project will provide new working accommodation, vehicle shelters, quartermaster stores and workshops, as well as a new fire training area for the RAAF Fire Services. The new facilities will provide a consolidated Engineer Support Regiment with modern and fit-for-purpose facilities to work, operate, maintain and support the Army's efforts, both in war time and peace.

Toogoolawah Cultural Precinct Opening

Toowoolawah Cultural PrecinctThe new precinct which opened on Friday 11 December 2015 includes the ‘Condensery Gallery’, a sculpture garden and workshop space, as well as car parking, new roads and paths.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said the Australian Government provided $500,000 towards the project through the Regional Development Australia Fund.

Nominations for Mobile Blackspot Locations Now Open

A further $60 million has been committed by the Government for Round 2 of the Mobile Blackspot Programme, with funding to be available over two years from 1 July 2016.

The database is now open for the public to report additional regional locations with poor or no mobile coverage. You can nominate a regional mobile black spot location by completing a mobile black spot nomination form.

National Stronger Regions Fund - Round Three Opening

Round Three will open for applications on 15 January 2016 and close 5pm applicant’s local time on
15 March 2016.
