Award winning project at Beaudesert

Urban UtilitiesQueensland Urban Utilities’ Beaudesert Nutrient Offsets Project was awarded the Healthy Waterways 2015 Water Services Award. In an Australian-first, the project regenerated and rehabilitated an eroded riverbank to prevent five tonnes of nitrogen and 11,000 tonnes of soil from entering the Logan River. Advance Queensland Digital Champions program

The Queensland Government has just launched a community digital initiative and are currently engaging with regional stakeholders, to encourage their participation to showcase the impact of using digital tools, community spirit, and innovation.

The Advance Queensland Community Digital Champions announced ten Champions who are inspirational role models, some began with a limited background in technologies and they simply saw a need and found a digital solution. Identify and nominate potential Champs using the online nomination form here.

Animating Space Ipswich River Life 2015

Animating SpacesIpswich River Life revived three neglected locales in and around Ipswich CBD, transforming them into vibrant and dynamic spaces. Through the help and creative endeavours of Ipswich artists, the Council and volunteers, the Artslink Queensland’s Animating Space projects, concluded with the story of Ipswich River Life being showcased on video. Business Case Writing Workshops

Business Case WorkshopsRDAIWM has successfully conducted nine Business Case Workshops in conjunction with the Ipswich City and Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset Regional Councils. We would like to thank the local governments and the over 200 participants who attended the workshops, which provided information about the National Stronger Regions Fund and other relevant federal and state government funding programs. RDAIWM hosts SEQ RDA meeting

Paul PisasaleRDAIWM hosted the SEQ RDA meeting held on 28 October 2015. Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale kindly provided an overview of the Ipswich region especially relating to future job growth in IT, technology and becoming the intelligent region. The Mayor emphasised that Ipswich is a "family friendly city where people matter" and that we need to find ways to celebrate success; as positivity breed positivity. Mayor Paul Pisasale also supported the collaborative approach SEQ's RDAs are making towards economic development across the whole of South East Queensland.

National Food & Innovation Centre

Food Innovation CentreKathy Bensted, Chair of RDAIWM, was given a briefing on project priorities in the area in October, including the National Food & Innovation Centre based in the Lockyer Valley. RDAIWM fully supports their recent National Stronger Regions Fund submission for the Lockyer Valley as it boasts the seventh most fertile soil in the world and supplies the majority of Australia's winter vegetables.

Funding workshops for Somerset

WorkshopsRDAIWM will be conducting Business Case Workshops in conjunction with the Somerset Regional Council during October. The RDA's Business Case Workshops will provide information about the National Stronger Regions Fund and other relevant Federal and State Government funding programmes, plus tips and strategies to support organisations in developing a successful business case and acquiring funding for their project.
