Regional Energy Transition Collaborative

The Regional Energy Transition Collaborative explored opportunities for community-based energy sharing in Ipswich. The program has now concluded, with its case study and final report available below.

The initiative involved Advance Queensland, an initiative of the Queensland Government, and Regional Development Australia Ipswich & West Moreton.

The project investigated virtual energy-sharing models and the potential of Energy Share Hubs to keep more locally generated energy within the community.

Its research considered how a coordinated approach could help manage pressure on the electricity network, reduce energy costs and provide social benefits.

Rooftop solar and new energy technologies created opportunities to consider how surplus electricity from homes and businesses could be shared locally.

The project examined these possibilities in the Ipswich context to inform understanding of community energy sharing and future regional energy planning.

The Regional Energy Transition Collaborative program has concluded and is no longer seeking participants.
